Sporting Aims and Provision for Sport
Our school views the role of sport as being of fundamental importance.
Many major team games (football, netball, basketball, rounders, soft-ball and hockey) are' played and the school endeavours to play competitive fixtures on a regular basis. We compete in interschool events with other MLD schools and our pupils / students gain much from this experience.
Both individual and team sports are covered in P.E. curriculum time. In the primary side of the school, pupils will on average experience at least H. hours sporting activity per week. In the seniors, the average lesson time is H' hours. Lunchtime clubs operate to extend and involve the pupils / students still further. We are fortunate to have a full-size playing field adjacent to the school and to have use of the local leisure complex for swimming - further contacts exist locally.
The school is also fortunate to boast coaching experience and qualifications at the highest levels in trampolining, tennis, cricket, rugby, badminton, basketball and football. Some of our staff have coached at professional or international level.
We also have swimming coaches on our staff.
